The work has four parts: I Idyll, II Adaptation, III Full Mobilisation and IV Final Solution.
The National Museum received the work from Riksgalleriet. Norsk biografisk leksikon gives the Museum of Contemporary Art, now part of the National Museum, as the owner.
The National Museum lists the work as undated; Store norske leksikon and Norsk biografisk leksikon date it to 1983, English Wikipedia to 1989.
